Scores

The 2015 Les Champs Libres (from the Guinaudeau family at Château Lafleur in Pomerol) includes a little Semillon Blanc this year. It was picked between September 5-9. It has an attractive bouquet with lime cordial, dried pineapple and honeysuckle scents that are very well defined. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry, vibrant and energetic, the 100% new oak barely noticeable. This is one of the less-known gems from the Guinaudeaus and it comes highly recommended.
91-93 Points, Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate

I have had to depend on fellow taster Fiona Morrison MW for this description as I just cannot find my own tasting note on this ambitious wine for some reason (spreadsheet-itis?) but have regularly been impressed by previous vintages. 87% Sauvignon Blanc 13% Sémillon (which Baptiste Guinaudeau described as 'the vector of freshness'). She remarked that the wine, with a certain wild flower aroma, was well up to the standard of many a Pessac-Léognan. I suspect I may have actually given it 17 and hope to taste it again some time.
16.5+ Points, Jancis Robinson MW

ProducerChâteau Lafleur

Nestled next door to Pomerol’s Petrus, Château Lafleur measures a mere 4.5ha, planted almost exactly with half Bouchet (Cabernet Franc) and half Merlot. Since the Guinaudeau family took control of production, an already highly regarded cru has reached greater heights, with more obsessive precision of selection and timing of picking, as well as more nuanced use of barrels. Combining their mineral expression of Merlot, with the perfume and complexity of Bouchet (Cabernet Franc) the Guineaudeau family has managed to create some of the most elegant, long-lived and collectible wines in Bordeaux.
