Tasting Notes

A really savoury, earthy, umami nose leads to crunchy black briar fruits and a taut, refined structure underpinned by a firm mineral driven core. Crisp and coiled, yet still introvert, this promises bountiful pleasure if given time. Drink from 2021.

Reviews & Scores

The 2016 Savigny les Beaune les Grand Liards has a lovely, pure blackberry, boysenberry and wet loam scented bouquet that is very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with dusky black fruit, chalky tannin, quite linear and focused but you can really fell the freshness and energy on the finish of this impressive village cru. Excellent, especially for a village cru, the sole vineyard to survive and make a single vineyard bottling.
90-92 points, Neal Martin
