Tasting Notes

The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a detailed, precise nose, quite understated at first, featuring morello cherries, wild strawberry, light violet petals and loamy notes that lend complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin. This is a finely tuned Charmes-Chambertin with good backbone, actually quite Mazoyères-like in style. Give it four to six years once in bottle. 92-94 Points, Neal Martin Mid cherry red. Utterly seductive in its scented red fruit. A tiny note of vanilla and spice. On the palate, sweet and succulent and so silky. Juicy, moreish, mouth-watering and with hidden intensity. The power is seen in the length. 18/20 Points, Julia Harding, JancisRobinson.com
