"The 2018 Barolo is a delightful wine that captures the best qualities of this tricky vintage. Floral and gracious in style, the 2018 opens to reveal hints of kirsch, sweet tobacco, cedar, mint, leather, game and dried rose petal. This lithe, nervy Barolo is a real charmer. Claudio Fenocchio’s 2018s are absolutely gorgeous. Quality has risen pretty dramatically here in recent years. The 2018s are especially notable given how challenging the vintage was throughout the region. Readers in search of fine, classically built Barolos that remain accessible in terms of pricing will want to check out Fenocchio."

Tasting Notes

Dep rubin red color with lively, bright bighlights softened by slight traces of purple. It has an intense, ethereal bouques, with the bitterish flavour of liquorice, witered roses and tarm alongside beady, warm and spicy aromas.

Recommended with meat, game and mature cheeses age which are so typical of the local kitchen but it also goes very well with all the rich dishes of international cusine.

ProducerGiacomo Fenocchio

When Claudio Fenocchio succeeded his father Giacomo at the helm of the family business in 1989, the debate between modernist and traditionalists in Barolo was at its most acute. He decided to opt for a third approach, something we can call radical traditionalism. His wines were celebrated for being impressively approachable in youth while getting even better with age. Claudio represents the 5th generation of the Fenocchio family crafting elegant, true Barolos that capture the soul of his vineyards. Far from resting on his laurels though, he continues to push boundaries of quality and innovation while respecting his family legacy.
