Château Latour dates back to the 14th century, but its history as a wine producer truly began with the arrival of the Ségur family, who also once owned Lafite. Latour’s vineyards lie in the southern part of the Pauillac appellation, bordering Saint-Julien and closer to the Gironde estuary than any other First Growth. The microclimate created by this proximity, along with the excellent drainage of the particularly deep gravel soils, contributes to the remarkable elegance of the wines.
