Our PortfolioPetrolo

Petrolo is located in the Val d’Arno within the Tuscan hills, an area not widely known. A family-owned estate with 26ha of vineyards, located in the hills of eastern Chianti, just outside the boundary of Chianti Classico, Petrolo is located between 250 and 450m above sea level. Often described as one of Tuscany’s Cult wineries, this Super Tuscan estate has a history dating back to the 1700s. However, it was in the 1990s that Petrolo made a name for itself amongst the leaders of the Tuscan revolution, thanks to its expression of Merlot, Galatrona, first produced in 1994.

Bottle shot of 2022 Petrolo Torrione
Tasting Notes

“This wine is mostly Sangiovese with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon. The Petrolo 2022 Torrione reveals a luminous ruby tinge and follows through with bold cherry, blackcurrant and crushed rose. This vintage brings forth more textural heft in terms of mouthfeel, and it feels a little richer on the finish. You get excellent quality at a still-affordable price.” 94 points....

Bottle shot of 2023 Boggina Anfora
Tasting Notes

“The 2023 Boggina A is compelling. Sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, mint, dried cherry, orange peel and dried rose petal give this deceptively mid-weight Sangiovese notable aromatic presence along with a palpable touch of exoticism. I especially admire the wine's dynamic energy and overall complexity.” 93 points. Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Bottle shot of 2023 Boggina Bianco
Tasting Notes

“The 2023 Trebbiano Boggina B is one of the best vintages of this wine I have tasted. Aromatic, layered and super-expressive, the 2023 is an absolute delight from the very first taste. Floral overtones meld into apricot, peach, almond, chamomile and dried herbs. Fermentation in barrel leaves a slightly phenolic, bitter character that is quite appealing. The long, substantial finish...

Bottle shot of 2021 Boggina Anfora
Tasting Notes

"The 2021 Boggina A, 100% Sangiovese in amphora, is brilliant. Medium in body and wonderfully translucent, the 2021 captures all the magic of the year in its finely cut, chiseled personality. Once again, Luca Sanjust and his team have turned out a stunning, vivid Sangiovese that is a far cry from earlier vintages, when this wine was often much less...

Bottle shot of 2022 Boggina Classico Riserva
Tasting Notes

“The 2022 Boggina C is a potent, brooding wine. Floral and earthy notes lead into a core of bright red Sangiovese fruit. Beams of tannin lend shape, while also suggesting a bit of cellaring will be essential. This structured Sangiovese has plenty to offer.” 94 points. Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Bottle shot of 2020 Boggina Classico Riserva
Tasting Notes

"The 2020 Sangiovese Riserva Vigna Boggina is another stellar wine in this range from Luca Sanjust. Deep, rich and explosive, the 2020 possesses remarkable intensity from start to finish. It is more a wine of place than a truly varietal Sangiovese, but does that matter? The Riserva spends 16-18 months in wood, mostly cask with some medium-sized barrels as well....

Bottle shot of 2023 Galatrona
Tasting Notes

“The 2023 Galatrona,100% Merlot, is soft, plush and sensual. Dark blue/purplish fruit, cloves, new leather, menthol and licorice all meld together in the glass. Soft, caressing contours shape this mid-weight, understated vintage of the estate's flagship wine. The 2023 is not a huge Galatrona but is instead a wine that impresses with its finesse. This is a step up from...

Bottle shot of 2022 Galatrona
Tasting Notes

"The floral aromas are spellbinding, with aromas of violets, lilacs, orange peel, raspberries, rose petals, and some oranges. It’s medium- to full-bodied with crunchy and open-grain tannins that are creamy and caressing. It’s endless in the finish. Crunchy and energetic. A wine that is thoughtful and gives you such great pleasure. Such purity. It’s like eating perfectly ripened grape must....
