Liguria image

LIGURIA

With the region’s capital Genoa sitting in the middle, Liguria is in north-western Italy, a narrow strip along the coastline abutting France, with the Alps and the Appennines as backdrop. The region features beautiful rolling hills, ancient woodland and sandy coves as well as those impressive mountains. The combination of the cooling Mediterranean and the protection of the hills make this a temperate region with plenty of rainfall. With Piedmont and Tuscany as neighbours one could be forgiven for expecting the region to produce red wines, however it is aromatic, food loving whites that are the region’s speciality.
