TASTING NOTES

Hailed a curvy, racy beauty from Antonio Galloni and a fascinating wine from Monica Larner, Sassicaia 2017 is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Sassicaia 2017 is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. In her preview assessment of the wine, Larner describes incredibly well the tension existing from vintner and vintage and how, like...

2017 Sassicaia, Tenuta San Guido

Bottle 75cl £172.68

TASTING NOTES

An impressive release that speaks volume of the pedigree of Tenuta San Guido’s wines. Guidalberto is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. A voluptuous nose charged with blackcurrant, black cherries, damson notes is rained in by mineral, almost balsamic hints of black olive, mint, tomato leaf and fresh black pepper. The exuberant nose of youth shouldn’t distract from the...

The third wine of the estate and one that was produced since 2003, Le Difese is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats and it is then aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels and for a further three months in the bottle. The younger addition to the...

TASTING NOTES

“A darker, more structured Barolo than his sibling, Prapo’ is an incredibly pure expression of the terroir of Serralunga. Precise notes of red and black berries, forest floor and dark spices are framed by tight woven tannins and lively freshness. An exciting release that has the potential to be enjoyed for the next 10 years.” Armit Wines

Grown almost exclusively in Puglia, the Negroamaro grape reaches its apogee in the Salice Salentino appellation. This wine is a classic example of rich, dark berries leading into an earthy, herbal aroma. The palate is dense and tightly packed with firm tannins and crunchy acidity. The blackberry and plum provide a warm, spicy quality which would be a great match...

Imagining the sweetness and purity of diverse berry fruits found in the corresponding “L’Esquerda” bottling allied to the saline savor of the corresponding “Vignes de Bila-Haut” will give you an idea of what awaits from the glass of 2011 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France Occultum Lapidem …there is, unsurprisingly, at least as much sheer complexity on display here...

Fine Red Wines

Did you know that Chianti wine, produced in Tuscany, Italy, is one of the best known Italian wines, produced from Sangiovese usually? In the 15th century, it was referred to as a white wine because of the different types of grape used to produce Chianti. By the 18th century, it was considered a red wine. Full of rich berry fruitiness, its known as a beautifully tasting wine.

Browse our collection of premium quality red wines that have been produced around the world. Choose the popular, full bodied Cab Sav from the vineyards in the South of France, often blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc to complement. Alternatively, find our intensely tasting Italian Mongrana 2015. Its name takes after the Maremma region, for being fresh and embracing, giving the wine a strong, fruity taste.
