Our PortfolioPietradolce

Since its founding in 2005, Pietradolce has come to own one of the largest collections of pre-phylloxera vines on Mount Etna, some up to 120 years old. This active volcano commands the winery’s devotion and respect, with its complex volcanic soils producing wines of remarkable energy and nuance. Owner Michele Faro and winemaker Giuseppe Parlavecchio focus exclusively on local varieties, Nerello Mascalese and Carricante, crafting a range of pure, terroir-driven wines roughly structured as Village, Premier Cru, and Grand Cru.

Bottle shot of 2024 Etna Bianco
Tasting Notes

"Sweet white flowers, chamomile and spice give way to crushed apples as the 2024 Etna Bianco Pietradolce wafts up from the glass. Pleasantly ripe in style, it splashes across the palate with crisp orchard fruits and minty herbal tones. This finishes with a sense of refinement as a tactile mineral tinge lingers." 91 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous

Bottle shot of 2020 Contrada Rampante
Tasting Notes

"Hauntingly dark and floral, the 2020 Etna Rosso Rampante smolders up with an array of dusty violets, lavender, cloves and earth tones before giving way to musky black currants. This is sleek and cool-toned in feel, showing its crisp minerality up front as tart wild berry fruits emerge over a core of sour citrus and spice. Structured and long yet...

Bottle shot of 2020 Archineri Etna Rosso
Tasting Notes

"Earthy, dark and brooding, the 2020 Etna Rosso Archineri grumbles up with a youthfully backward bouquet of ashen stones, grilled herbs and dried berries. It’s silky-smooth, with ripe wild berry fruits offset by hints of blood orange. A saline core of minerality saturates toward the close. This leaves the palate reeling with residual tension. Brisk acidity peppers the senses and...

Sourced from 130-150 year old vines in Contrada Caselle, a historical site on the Eastern slope of Mt. Etna at 850 metres: Carricante is the protagonist here, and it impresses with its laser-like focus, acid backbone, and rich texture.  Armit Wines

The flagship label of the estate, the fruit is sourced from the Contrada Rampante vineyards at 850 metres just outside the winery. With its “silken textures and masses of tart wild berry fruits motivated by a core of tantalizing acidity” (Eric Guido, Vinous), this represents the perfect introduction to the style of Pietradolce and what can be achieved with Nerello...

Bottle shot of 2021 Contrada Rampante
Tasting Notes

At the highest confines of the Etna DOC, these un-grafted, old vineyards typically take the longest to fully ripen, and the wines are projected for the long haul. A touch more austere, but quintessentially Nerello Mascalese with their darker tones and grainy mouthfeel. The 2021 is a “lively and spry Rampante that is a bit unruly yet enjoyable all the...

Bottle shot of 2019 Contrada Rampante Vigna Barbagalli
Tasting Notes

"This is a complex Etna with an almost old-fashioned style. It is full of basalt minerality, pomegranate, cherries, graphite and deep, smoky tones. Full-bodied, it has firm tannins, chalky yet ripe. The crisp, lasting acidity leads to a long aftertaste. Drinkable now but will last for decades." 96, James Suckling

Bottle shot of 2019 Sant'Andrea
Tasting Notes

"Displaying a deep golden hue, the 2019 Etna Bianco Sant’Andrea opens with a honeyed sweetness as wildflowers and chamomile accentuate hints of young peach. It’s nicely rounded, revealing a mineral tinge up front that’s further enhanced by notes of ginger as crisp orchard fruits swirl throughout. Medium in length, this finishes fresh, leaving a minty sensation to taper off." Eric...

Sitting literally on the border of the denomination at 1000 meters of altitude, the fruit is sourced from a tiny plot of 120 year old vines producing an average of half a kilogram of berries per plant. This is considered the Grand Cru of Pietradolce and is an outstanding expression of Rampante. “Exceptionally long, structured and classically dry, the 2020...
