FREEMARK ABBEY

The estate that is known today as Freemark Abbey was established in 1886 in St Helena by one of the first female winegrowers on record. The name came later in 1939 by combining the names of the three owners at that time, namely Charles Freeman, Markquand Foster and Abbey Ahem.

TASTING NOTES

Healthy deep red. Good energy and nuance to the aromas of plum, currant, tobacco and milk chocolate The palate conveys an old-vines intensity and good lift to the currant and wild mint flavors. The sweetest and lushest of these 2011s to this point, finishing with firm, building tannins and very good balancing acidity.91 Points.

"The 2012 Sauvignon Blanc is classy, beautiful and elegant. Mint, white flowers, peach and nectarine jump from the glass in this beautifully delineated Sauvignon Blanc. Bright saline notes support the finish. This is a gorgeous showing. The Sauvignon Blanc was fermented in concrete and aged in barrel. Antonio Galloni 92 pts

blind tasting, and the Californian victory placed Freemark Abbey firmly on the world wine map.

The grapes are sourced from five different vineyards, two of which are on the much-prized Rutherford Bench. With such a glowing history and a legacy of winemaking innovation, premium vineyard sites and the expertise of winemaker Ted Edwards, the Freemark Abbey wines are simply some of the finest wines California has to offer.
