Fantastic aromas of red pepper, chocolate, chili, and blueberry. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a beautiful length and balance. A triumph for a difficult vintage in 2014. And the 20th vintage of this great pure merlot made. I am not sure I would wait on this one. Too delicious now.
95 Points, James Suckling
The 2014 Redigaffi is a challenging wine. There is no way around it. There is good power and density at the outset, but the wine narrows considerably through the mid-palate and into the finish. Black cherry, tobacco, smoke, licorice and game are all pushed forward, but the 2014 doesn't have the sheer density and texture of the very best years. Today, I see a wine with only modest depth and complexity.

The 2018 Giusto di Notri comes together with seamless beauty. This is a rich and generous expression that delivers dark fruit intensity with blackberry and black currant, wrapped tightly together with ample oak notes of spice, tar and cured tobacco. The wine offers smooth transition and rich textural fiber, with soft angles and contours that frame the wine's full-bodied approach.96...more

That approach brings out a more savory, floral side of Syrah as compared to the Syrah Per Sempre, along with a distinctly red-toned fruit profile and elements of feral/earthy intensity that are quite intriguing. There is just a bit of reduction – which...more

The Tua Rita 2018 Syrah Per Sempre is another monumental achievement from this iconic Tuscan estate. Stefano Frascolla and his team have slouched into a very cozy and comfortable relationship with the Syrah grape, and this wine registers marked exuberance, generosity and quality with each vintage that I taste. I had previewed a sample of this 3,500-bottle release earlier in...more
