Tasting Notes

In Redigaffi’s twentieth vintage, there is no doubting the pedigree of this wonderful Super Tuscan. This brilliant release from Tua Rita is, quite simply, an embarrassment of superlatives. Just 8000 bottles (compared to the usual 10 000) were made of this velveteen wine. As such, demand is expected to be even higher than usual. A wine of remarkable presence; this Redigaffi is redolent with vibrant perfumed aromas – at once hedonistic and elegant. There is spice and woodsmoke, softened by rose, plum and almonds, mocha, dark cherry and damson. Redigaffi 2014 is an opulent wine with immediate appeal whose underlying power indicates a very long future ahead; that quintessential iron fist in a velvet glove.

Reviews & Scores

Fantastic aromas of red pepper, chocolate, chili, and blueberry. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a beautiful length and balance. A triumph for a difficult vintage in 2014. And the 20th vintage of this great pure merlot made. I am not sure I would wait on this one. Too delicious now.
95 Points, James Suckling

The 2014 Redigaffi is a challenging wine. There is no way around it. There is good power and density at the outset, but the wine narrows considerably through the mid-palate and into the finish. Black cherry, tobacco, smoke, licorice and game are all pushed forward, but the 2014 doesn't have the sheer density and texture of the very best years. Today, I see a wine with only modest depth and complexity.
89 Points, Antonio Galloni

“A darker, more structured Barolo than his sibling, Prapo’ is an incredibly pure expression of the terroir of Serralunga. Precise notes of red and black berries, forest floor and dark spices are framed by tight woven tannins and lively freshness. An exciting release that has the potential to be enjoyed for the next 10 years.” Armit Wines

“Taut, elegant, ethereal expression of Nebbiolo. A purebred Barolo that entices with notes of red fruits, meadow flowers and just hints of Italian leather and spices. Already approachable, Cerretta will be a sure joy to revisit in five to ten years.” Armit Wines
