"There's convincing weight to the 2022 Pinot Gris Sleepers Vineyard from the Kēkerengū Coast. This is a dry, full-bodied, savory New Zealand interpretation of Pinot Gris. Yes, it has pure pear and apple fruit notes plus a fragrant florality, but they've also managed to capture savory, pastry hints and a spiced character that sparks memories of dining out in Alsace. Pinot Gris is normally treated with a lack of respect in New Zealand, so I'm delighted to see a wine given its due. It is drinking well now."
