“A sophisticated and complex wine with layers of white fleshed fruits and citrus, there’s a savoury quality and fi ne lees suggestion. On the palate a delicious wine with a coarse silk texture, saline and white spices, citrus and apple, refreshing, a salivating and new. Enticing and refreshing, textured and lengthy, a Gris with a sense of place and time, charm and presence. Best drinking from 2023 through 2026+.”

94 Points, Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier camdouglasms.com

“Grown north of Kaikoura, the vigorous 2022 vintage (4.5*) of this single-vineyard Marlborough wine is crisp and dry. Pale lemon/green, it has concentrated, ripe, peachy, distinctly spicy flavours, a hint of ginger, and strong personality.”

4.5 Stars, Michael Cooper New Zealand Wines: Michael Cooper’s Buyer’s Guide

ProducerAstrolabe

Named after a 19th-century explorer’s ship, Astrolabe is Simon and Jane Waghorn’s voyage into winemaking exploration in New Zealand’s Marlborough region and is now 100% family-owned. The family-owned estate is rightly celebrated for wines that express the variety of their soil and the nuances of their terroir: from the Wairau and Awatere Valleys to the Kekerengu Coast. Astrolabe wines reflect the Waghorn’s innovative treatment of specific parcels and winemaking process to capture undiscovered qualities of individual grape varieties, resulting in some of the most pure and elegant wines from the region.
