Over the past 30 years, Ornellaia has become established as simply one of the greatest wines in the world, one of the First Growths of Italy. The founder, Lodovico Antinori, picked a brilliant site just down the road from Sassicaia in the sweet spot of Bolgheri, home to the thrilling wave of Super-Tuscans which emerged in the 70's and 80's.
Today winemaker Axel Heinz and his team continue to work to craft the most decadent and sublimely textured of the classical Super-Tuscans.
The rise and rise of Ornellaia has meant fierce competition for allocations upon release. Its consistency of quality and global recognition make it one of the great success stories of modern times.
