Sassicaia was the first wine to be granted its own DOC, and has become one of the most sought after wines by wine connoisseurs and collectors around the world.
The Estate is situated in Bolgheri, near the Tuscan coast and has been owned by the lncisa della Rochetta family since 1800. Cabernet Sauvignon vines were first planted in 1943 and all the wine produced over the first 20 years was for kept for private ownership of the family and close friends. Over this period the estate was perfecting a wine which would change Bolgheri and Italian winemaking for ever. The 1968 wine was the first vintage to be produced commercially sparking the rise of the 'Super Tuscans'.
Sassicaia stands out for its perfect harmony and balance. It is understated, attractive and elegant. A wine that is powerful and refined, an influential star pushing complexity to the limit and maintaining freshness at its core.
