The first of our world wine tour brings us to California, showcasing some of our highlights from the Napa Valley and Sonoma Coast.
California has long had a place on the world’s winemaking map, and in the hearts and glasses of wine lovers with fine wines which are concentrated and balanced in equal measure. From Mendocino in the north to Santa Barbara in the south, every rugged mountain top and windswept coastal vineyard is home to some seriously fine wines. The Sonoma Coast has a dramatically cool climate which creates a style offering ripeness of fruit and mature tannins balanced with a moreish high acid profile. In the Napa Valley, the varying soils, climate and typography produce a diverse range of styles from complex sparkling wines like Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs to rich and concentrated red wines displayed by 2011 Cliff Lede Cabernet Sauvignon.
