Domaine de Montille is one of Burgundy’s greatest estates. The wines are made for ageing but in recent years, since Hubert’s son Etienne has taken over, the Domaine has moved towards expressing greater aromatic potential in the wines. The Domaine has moved progressively towards organic and now biodynamic methods working in closer harmony with nature. The wines still benefit from ageing and develop an abundance of complexity as they mature.
2/3 whole cluster and 40% new oak gives it a brightness and perfumed vivacity of red fruit on the nose. On the palate crunchy cranberries come to the fore, the flavours are full and generous, filling the mouth. These are amplified by the substantial tannic structure and balancing acidity. Needs a bit of time to soften, drink from 2023.Armit Winesmore

This vineyard has less iron than most of Pommard, and is 50% down in volume from 2015. The nose shows red fruit with spicy notes. The flavours are of bright red fruit and are very focussed on the palate. Balanced with fine tannins and good acidity, this is more delicate than typical Pommard and should drink from 2020.Armit Winesmore
