Since he took over the family estate in 1988, Giancarlo Pacenti has climbed to the pinnacle of Brunello’s most esteemed producers with his modern and perfectionist approach to making Brunello di Montalcino. A combination of old and new vines provides wonderfully complex fruit that helps define these excellent wineswhichare very pure expression of the region’s finest terroirs.

A combination of old and new vines provides wonderfully complex fruit that helps define these excellent wineswhichare very pure expression of the region’s finest terroirs.

The 20 hectare planting of Sangiovese is mostly vineyards registered under the famous Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G. appellation and forms the backbone of the estate’s annual production. Some of the vineyards surround the winery itself located on a beautiful hillside just outside Montalcino, while the rest are further south on a special terroir between 150 and 330 metres.

Quality is key at this estate, as displayed in the difficult vintage of 2002 when Giancarlo Pacenti decided not to bottle any Brunello, instead maximising his best fruit to create an excellent Rosso. This emphasis on quality combined with a meticulous selection process and excellent terroir has helped define the estate as a Tuscan superpower.
