The nose is fascinating, with blackberry, black licorice, mineral, flowers and more. Full-bodied, with an incredible texture of ripe tannins and cashmere yarn. A tightly wound ball. What length too. This wine made me feel like getting in the lotus position and meditating. It's almost more than wine. Vinous Nirvana. I think the Cabernet Franc really gave that extra level to it all. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 97-100 Points James Suckling

Tasting Notes

"Tasted blind. Some savour. Fresh and racy, very sleek – with ‘cashmere tannins’. Polished and fun to drink already. Lots of persistence. (JR)"

ProducerChâteau Lafleur

The Guineaudeau family tends a 4.5-hectare vineyard at Château Lafleur, producing limited quantities of the majestic Château Lafleur and Les Pensées wines. Their stewardship also includes Le Grand Village in Fronsac, the family’s original Bordeaux home, overseen by the same team and with the same exacting standards that define Château Lafleur. The unique soils—sandy-clay gravels, clay gravels, and gravelly sands—impart exceptional character to Château Lafleur. The family’s dedication extends to Lafleur Bouchet, propagated from plants that survived the 1956 frost, while their pursuit of perfection also led to a superior Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre, blended from four parcels to create the outstanding white Bordeaux, Les Champs Libres.
