Tasting Notes

Optimum growing conditions with the driest Spring of the last 50 years, combined with mild temperatures in early summer and rainfall in early August all contributed to produce healthy grapes of perfect ripeness by harvest time. Only the strictest selection of just fifty percent of the total harvest has been used to produce the Albariño Lagar de Cervera, using the grapes from their finest plot with an average vine age of 25 years. Fresh and crisp, the palate has excellent fruit weight with peachy, tropical fruit flavours, citrus and floral notes. The perfect balance of natural acidity gave no need for malolactic fermentation. The wine spent 3 months on lees with weekly batonnage to give further depth, complexity and creaminess.

Reviews & Scores

Supple and expansive, with very good depth and energy. This wine has the heft to handle richer foods but also the vivacity to work with simply prepared lighter fare as well. Stephen Tanzer

TASTING NOTES

The Bourgogne Blanc, which had completed its malo by springtime, is already in bottle and offers good fruit weight and mid-palate density but plenty of freshness too. The nose is pure and floral and the wine bounds along energetically, with a crisp, well-defined finish suggesting versatility, equally at home on its own as with simple foods. Drink from 2014.

The blend is 97% Roussanne, with just a touch of Viognier for complexity, given a little skin contact and 10 months in neutral oak with...

TASTING NOTES

Grassy and floral with spicy lift. Stone fruits and lemon flesh. This is taut, intense and long with excellent concentration, direction and drive. The ripe fruit which is characteristic of Zotzenberg is perfectly balanced by surging minerality and crisp, bright acidity. This will reward cellar time but is already lovely to drink and I wouldn’t hesitate to decant and drink...
