Tasting Notes

Floral, extravagantly perfumed and sensual. This is a textured, sumptuously fruity Costa Russi with a backbone of acidity and minerality which frames and elevates the layered and complex fragrance and silky texture. Extremely evocative, engaging and enticing this really highlights the delicacy of Barbaresco yet still has the grunt, power and sophistication of a Gaja wine. Brilliant.

Reviews & Scores

The 2011 Costa Russi delivers youthfulness and brightness with bold cherry fruit flavors, cassis, spice and mild cola. The wine excels in the mouth where it shows a great degree of roundness and suppleness. Costa Russi is Nebbiolo with a tiny addition of Barbera. Drink: 2018-2038. Score: 94 points Monica Larner for erobertparker.com

TASTING NOTES

An extremely elegant reserva with an enveloping bouquet of crushed red cherries and subtle spices with just a hint of lavender. On the palate, smooth textures and bright red berry fruits are balanced by a refined mineral character which leads to a long and refreshing finish. Beautifully defined and supple, and almost Burgundian in style, this wine will age well...
