The London Wine Fair 2014 - Three terrific days!

Phil

LWF 3"Last week saw Armit Wines returning to the London Wine Fair after an absence of 6 years - why did we go back ? Well the change of venue was a big plus for us, small(er) is beautiful we feel and the renewed focus on the UK trade meant we got to see a lot of our favourite people I.e you !

The three days were a lot of fun, giving us a chance to showcase some of our favourite Estates and introduce some new additions, and from the general feedback we have had so far, the selection went down well.

All being well we will be seriously considering a return next year, in the meantime do give us your feedback on what you thought of our offering and the fair in general. "

PPecorino Tiberiohil's Picks:

"My favourites from tasting over the three days were the salty, lime inflected Pecorino 2013 from Tiberioin the Abruzzo, the wild flower and citrus scented heavenly Inzolia 2013 from Cantina Rallo in Sicily, the layered intensely complex Vouvray Le Mont Sec 2012 Domaine Huet, the 2004 Gran Reserva 904 La Rioja Alta a masterpiece and the blueberry, loganberry and damson filled Montessu 2011 Agricola Punica from Sardegna."

"We haven't been part of the fair since 2008, so long time no see, as some will say...LWF 2

And 2014 was a great year to be involved again! Back to Olympia has been a really good decision, more central, accessible for clients and a nice venue as well. It was good to be back in the game and show our support to the organiser and take this great opportunity to see lots of the amazing people we work with and new ones as well. Thank you guys for stopping by our stand to taste the selection!

We spent 3 days in the West Hall. Good choice! The stand was well located for us to see and talk to people. All the team was pleased with it.

The stand hosted 6 of our Iconic producers (Tahbilk Estate - Australia, Ornellaia- Italy, MateticVineyards - Chile, La Rioja Alta SA - Spain and DelaireGraff- South Africa) and a wide selection of our portfolio. I was really fond of the Inzolia from Rallo and Chianti Classico from Querciabella (notes below) and enjoyed discovering my colleague's favourites."

Celine's favourites:

InzoliaBianco di Envro Inzolia 2013, Cantine Rallo - Sicily:

"Being one of our recent additions, this wine has been a great discovery for me as I wasn't familiar with the Inzolia grape before. It has a lovely pleasant nose. Delicate and light in flavour showing notes of Lemon and Citrus. The palate is harmonious, with a a bit of body which gives a lift up to the wines. Great acidity on the finish leave sus with a pleasant note."

ChiantChianti Classico 2010, Querciabella - Tuscany:

"What makes Querciabella so special is the Biodynamic culture. This is something in what Sebastiano Cossa Castiglioni (Owner) truly believes. The Estate has been run organically since 1988 and biodynamically since 2000. This way of culture enhances the quality of the Sangiovese grape and the typicity of the region. This wine has an elegant nose with notes of sweet cherry fruit, game meat, and undergrowth. The palate is soft, well structured, with lots of elegant tannins and the acidity which comes through gives all the energy to this wine."
