TASTING NOTES

Grassy and floral with spicy lift. Stone fruits and lemon flesh. This is taut, intense and long with excellent concentration, direction and drive. The ripe fruit which is characteristic of Zotzenberg is perfectly balanced by surging minerality and crisp, bright acidity. This will reward cellar time but is already lovely to drink and I wouldn’t hesitate to decant and drink...

Deeper and spicier, almost grassy with floral notes, the palate displays lovely ripeness and intensity of fleshy citrus fruit with spice, grip and great length.

Fresh and lively with floral lift and a sense of orange peel and zest. Crisp, bright and taut with slate-y minerality. Again there is an awful lot here for the money with plenty of depth and a lengthy finish. Above all though this is delicious.

Golden in colour with fine bubbles. Rich scents of biscuit, brioche, honey, yellow plum, grapefruit and butter. Citrus, plum and grapefruit flavours on the palate with zesty lemon peel, notes of honey and yeast, all underpinned with mouthwatering acidity. Bright, gold-tinged yellow. Perfumed aromas of superripe apricot, baked apple, mirabelle and white flowers. Bright, dense and juicy, with outstanding purity to the white stone fruit and ripe tropical fruit flavors. The finish is long, breezy and mineral. The Sylvaner grapes used to make this wine come from vines grown on the Zinnkoepflé grand cru (one of the two or...

TASTING NOTES

Bright yellow. Ripe yellow apple, strawberry and hints of truffle and iodine on the enticing, complex nose. Then rich and dense in the mouth, with lovely acidity and pure floral flavors of orchard fruits and caramel. The very long finish is multilayered and suave. Much deeper, richer and more complex than the 2013 Pinot Gris Dirstelberg; the depth and power...

AGATHE BURSIN WINE

Domaine Agathe Bursin is one of a handful of wineries run by young, dynamic producers in Alsace.

With a longstanding family history of winemaking it was inevitable Agathe Bursin would inherit the family estate, and in 2000 she took over the reins and successfully set about growing her premium vineyard holdings as well as her reputation. With 5.5 hectares of vineyards, including a parcel of Zinnkoepflé Grand Cru, Domaine Agathe Bursin’s production is small but quality-focused.

The care Agathe Bursin takes from vineyard to winery is evident in her outstanding wine and this, alongside her very sensible pricing, has ensured she has a dedicated following. Agathe’s portfolio focuses on Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Sylvaner. Sylvaner, an oft-forgotten variety, is revived in Agathe’s skilled hands to create a wonderfully fruity, concentrated and complex wine. Her characteristic restraint, minerality and elegance run through her wines from the entry level to the Grand Cru.
