WEINGUT EICHINGER

Birgit Eichinger’s goals are clear – to optimise the natural aroma and flavour potential inherent in the grapes by matching varietals and terrain, practicing careful vineyard management and applying painstaking vinification. Having begun her winemaking career experimenting with 3.5 hectares from her parents’ business in the Kamptal region of Austria, it didn’t take long for Birgit Eichinger to build on this success and establish a winery of her own in 1992. Standing at the foot of the Gaisberg mountain, the Weingut Eichinger winery is ultramodern and vinification takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with the emphasis being placed...

TASTING NOTES

A basket full of fruit on the nose including pears, apples, gooseberries and greengages. On the palate, succulent stone fruit characters mingle with green herbs supported by a refreshing mineral character which leads to a long and persistent finish. Delicious now, this wine has enough depth to age for another five years or so.Armit Wines

TASTING NOTES

Another exceedingly well-balanced offering, with honeyed melon and stone fruit playing in the nose and on the palate; the acidity is fresh and perfectly judged and there is an intriguing complexity here that invites sip and after sip to discover more.Armit Wines

TASTING NOTES

The Gaisberg vineyard is considered one of the best of the entire region owing to its South Easterly exposure. On the nose this starts out with a wave of citrus that becomes increasingly impressive with marzipan and peach. The wine’s voluminous body rapidly releases the fruit, the residual sugar perfectly offsetting its acidity. With an attractively lingering aftertaste, the wine...

Weingut Eichinger Wine

With every vintage, Birgit Eichinger never fails to astound us with the exceptional quality of her wines. Highly expressive, elegant and with wonderful purity, we have had the pleasure of marvelling at these stunning Austrian wines for the last eight years that we have been working with Weingut Eichinger.

Birgit Eichinger established a winery of her own situated on a superb spot at the foot of the Gaisberg Mountain in 1992 having spent time experimenting on 3.5 hectares of her parents’ land in the Kamptal. Her reputation as a talented viticulturist and oenologist has continued to grow, and she has become mentor and friend to many up-and-coming female winemakers who still take their lead from her. Vital to her work is maintaining the purity of the must prior to fermentation, while slightly warmer fermentations add texture to the body of the Weingut Eichinger wine which complements her painstaking work in the 9 hectares of vineyards in some of the best traditional Austrian wine sites in Strasse.
