Scores

-A trace of sulfur can be discerned on the otherwise ripe but very Puligny-like nose of lemon, acacia blossom and wet stone. The racy, detailed, minerally and energetic flavors possess a beguiling sense of underlying tension and excellent punch on the long and moderately austere finish. Lovely juice. Tasting Notes

The Clos des Champs Gain is situated between the top of the Puligny Hill side and Folatieres. The vines facing full east and are planted over 300m high. Despite its higher location the wine has good acidity and lovely minerality. The style of the wine is a great mix between classic Puligny (minerality and acidity) and Blagny (more richness). This is a Puligny full of concentrated citrus fruit over a stony core, just the style we like and drinking beautifully now.

ProducerMaison de Montille

One of the great estates in Burgundy, Domaine de Montille produces incredibly elegant and understated wines. Established by Hubert de Montille, who inherited a few Volnay vines in 1951, the estate now comprises 17 ha. The wines had a reputation for requiring a long time to reach maturity but under Étienne de Montille, with the help of Chef de Cave Brian Sieve, the aromatic complexity of the wines has been brought to the fore.
