Tasting Notes

Vina Ardanza?s 2005 Reserva is a complex wine that is already showing so many of the wonderful qualities we have come to expect from this classic Rioja. Masses of dark fruit, with measures of dried berries and cherries wrapped up in a silky smooth coat of herbs, spice, smoke and leather. The palate lives up to the hype from the nose and its medium body is held together with fine ripe tannins This is a truly fantastic drinking experience that is excellent now and has plenty of stuffing to last 5-10 years, if you let it! Yet another superb vintage for this magnificent Rioja.

Only the very best barrels were then selected, with 199 making it into the final blend. The intensity of the wine is immediately visible from the deep, rich colouring and the fresh, crisp nose which is both pure and...

TASTING NOTES

Undoubtedly the star of the show for me, this wine bears all the hallmarks of beautiful, intense Tuscan Cabernet. Showy and rounded with a wild, spicy and concentrated texture. There are hints of smoke and tar beneath the dense, sweet core of fruit and exotic spice. The finish is long, rich and impressive. Wonderfully youthful in its freshness – quite...

TASTING NOTES

The fruit for the ESP 'reserve cuvee' Cabernet is mainly sourced from vines dating back to 1949. Darker fruits on the nose and palate than the Estate Cabernet, the ESP has a richer palate spectrum with more poise and power. Intense black fruits, coffee, black olives and more spice with excellent concentration of fruit on the finish. A wonderfully impressive...

TASTING NOTES

The estate's 2006 Camartina is awesome in the way it marries considerable ripeness of firm, classic sense of structure. Black cherries, minerals, menthol, tar and subtle French oak are some of the nuances that emerge from the 2006 Camartina. This is a decidedly big, powerful Camartina that will require some patience, but all of the ingredients are there for this...
