NEW ZEALAND

With a diverse range of climate and subsoils, from the sub-tropical Northland to the most southerly grape-growing region of Central Otago, it is no wonder that New Zealand is now producing the international varieties found in Europe with a great deal of success, no longer "just" Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. All the wine-growing regions benefit from the moderating effect of their maritime climate, with a long ripening period with abundant sunshine hours and cool night-time temperatures, enabling the top-quality producers to deliver wines with purity, vibrancy and a real sense of terroir.

2017 Sassicaia, Tenuta San Guido

Bottle 75cl £172.68

TASTING NOTES

An impressive release that speaks volume of the pedigree of Tenuta San Guido’s wines. Guidalberto is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. A voluptuous nose charged with blackcurrant, black cherries, damson notes is rained in by mineral, almost balsamic hints of black olive, mint, tomato leaf and fresh black pepper. The exuberant nose of youth shouldn’t distract from the...
