Case of 6
Lemon, apricot and pear are all enlivened by white flowers and a touch of spice on the refined nose of this excellent Pinot Gris. The vines at Dirstelberg are 42 years old and the site is characterised by pink sandstone that delivers an ample character to the wines . Bright and rich in the mouth, with suave flavours of ripe peach and sweet spice, it is very juicy and fresh on the long, smooth and classically dry finish.
Reviews & Scores
Pale straw. Lemon, apricot and pear are enlivened by white flowers on the refined nose. Brighter and richer in the mouth, with suave flavors of ripe peach and sweet spices given clarity and cut (for a Pinot Gris) by a laser beam of acidity. Very juicy and fresh on the long, smooth, classically dry finish (12 g/l residual sugar but with 7 g/l total acidity, so it tastes dry); this is one of the liveliest, least weighty Pinot Gris wines I tasted in Alsace this year. The Dirstelberg is a high-quality site, characterized by pink sandstone, that delivers more ample wines (different from calcareous sites that give slightly more vertical wines, for example).
