Our PortfolioTuscany

Tuscany, along with Piedmont, is the foundation upon which Italy’s wine reputation has been built. In total, there are 29 wines with DOC status produced in the region. It is also home to 7 of Italy’s DOCG areas, and many premium non-classified wines.

Chianti accounts for a large part of the region with the most prestigious DOCG Chianti Classico wines coming from the beautiful central hills, which provide a tempering effect on the summertime heat, many vineyards are planted on the highest slopes. The principal grape variety is Sangiovese, alongside other indigenous and international varietals.

Bottle shot of 2020 Poggio Valente
Tasting Notes

"Lots of rose petals on the nose, together with orange peel and cherries. Medium-bodied with very long and bright fruit character. Goes on for minutes, with so much energy and brightness. Drink or hold." 95, James Suckling

Bottle shot of 2020 Piastraia
Tasting Notes

"The Satta's style was always focused on elegance and detail rather than power, and this 2020 confirms it. The fruity character is more on the fresh red fruit side rather than the dark, with balsamic intensity and Mediterranean herbs. The attack is dense, with velvety tannins, mid-palate weight, and well judged oak giving a tobacco and cocoa finish. The tannins...

Bottle shot of 2022 GiovinRe
Tasting Notes

"Michele Satta is one of Italy's biggest ambassadors for the Viognier grape that he pretty much single-handedly brought to this part of the Tuscan Coast. His 2022 Giovin Re is immediately generous and rich with honey, baked apple, a note of spicy saffron and an elegant mineral note at the back. The acidity is very nice with tart lemon and...

Bottle shot of 2019 Turpino
Tasting Notes

"The 2019 Turpino, Querciabella's top wine from Maremma, is understated and yet quite expressive. Black cherry, plum, mocha, spice and licorice are nicely lifted by a good dose of Cabernet Franc in the blend. This aromatic, layered red holds quite a bit of appeal. I would prefer to drink it over the next handful of years." 93, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Bottle shot of 2021 Piastraia
Tasting Notes

"This is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 20% Sangiovese from low-elevation vines (at 70 meters in altitude) on the sun-drenched Tuscan Coast. The Michele Satta 2021 Bolgheri Superiore Piastraia shows great balance with an overall restrained personality that leans into a classical interpretation of Bolgheri, like you may have seen a decade ago or more. The...

Bottle shot of 2021 Piandorino Toscana
Tasting Notes

"The bright ruby 2021 Piandorino boasts lovely aromas of licorice and fresh raspberries that lift from the glass of this medium-bodied red. It’s spectacular, and I highly encourage readers to snap up these wines, as they are just full of pure joy, great energy, outstanding purity, and great length. This is so pure, fresh, and crystalline in nature, I wish...

Bottle shot of 2021 Syrah
Tasting Notes

"Showing some of the tin can, or almost rusty qualities that the grape can produce, the Michele Satta 2021 Syrah also has a hint of cracked peppercorn and spice. It ages in clay amphorae for 12 months. It is lean for a Syrah from Tuscany, and this is a welcome characteristic. It offers delicate aromas with dusty rose, spice and...

Bottle shot of 2019 Cavaliere
Tasting Notes

"Cavaliere is the flagship of Sangiovese in Bolgheri. 'It’s our Sangiovese selection in the estate vineyards, harvested at full maturation,' said Giacomo Satta. Fermented with 30% whole-bunch fruit in 30hl open-top oak vats with indigenous yeast then aged in concrete for 18 months, the 2019 is ripe with plentiful cherry and raspberry fruit aromas. There's a floral and spicy touch...

Bottle shot of 2022 Guidalberto
Tasting Notes

"Guidalberto used to be great value for money, and even though it's a bit pricier these days, the quality has also improved dramatically in recent vintages as Tenuta San Guido seeks to remove the idea of Guidalberto as a ‘second wine’ by building a dedicated winemaking facility and adjusting the blend. The 2022 is loaded with herbal and sea breeze...

Bottle shot of 2022 Boggina Bianco
Tasting Notes

"Luca Sanjust has created miracles with what is becoming one of my all-time-favorite Italian white wines. Made with the Trebbiano grape, the Petrolo 2022 Bòggina B is creamy and rich with succulent stone fruit, honey and hints of saffron. The 2022 vintage was indeed hot but, he tells me, not as bad as 2023. That year, he lost up to...

Bottle shot of 2021 Boggina Anfora
Tasting Notes

"The 2021 Boggina A, 100% Sangiovese in amphora, is brilliant. Medium in body and wonderfully translucent, the 2021 captures all the magic of the year in its finely cut, chiseled personality. Once again, Luca Sanjust and his team have turned out a stunning, vivid Sangiovese that is a far cry from earlier vintages, when this wine was often much less...
