Tasting Notes

The Echezeaux Grand Cru vineyard produces some of the finest Pinot Noir in the world. The terroir is legendary but the quality of the winemaker is what gives the bottle identity. Burgundian winemakers focus very much on communicating the origins of the wine and a fundamental tenet to Domaine Faiveley?s approach is ensuring the health of their plants through vigourous soil analysis. Francois Faiveley says ?If you completely bungle a vintage, it?s not dramatic, but if you bungle the choice of rootstock you?re stuck with it for 50 years.? This attention to detail from the vineyards to the cellar is what allows the Domaine to continue to flourish and sets a high standard for both négociants and growers throughout Burgundy.
