Tasting Notes

Undoubtedly the star of the show for me, this wine bears all the hallmarks of beautiful, intense Tuscan Cabernet. Showy and rounded with a wild, spicy and concentrated texture. There are hints of smoke and tar beneath the dense, sweet core of fruit and exotic spice. The finish is long, rich and impressive. Wonderfully youthful in its freshness ? quite simply, the 2004 Camartina seems to belie its age. At nearly a decade old, this is a stunning wine that will give pleasure for at least another ten years to come.

Reviews & Scores

The estate's 2004 Camartina is another irresistibly sexy wine. A deeply-colored ruby, it displays captivating aromatics along with notes of blackberries, blueberries, violets and graphite that emerge on its medium-bodied frame. The fine tannins make it a highly enjoyable wine even at this early stage, but my experience suggests that another few years of bottle age are needed for the wine to integrate its oak and express its full range of aromas and flavors. It is a terrific effort from Querciabella. This blend of 50% Sangiovese, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot and Syrah aged in 100% French oak (Allier, Nevers and Troncais) of which 80% was new. Score: 95 Points Antonio Galloni

TASTING NOTES

The nose offers a lovely scent of cherries and red fruits but there is no mistaking that this is a big wine with substantial tannic structure. In the hands of many others growers the conditions of 2003 proved too trying but Bruno has magically retained his hallmark elegance alongside the natural power of the vintage. Really well done.

A blend of 95% Tempranillo, 3% Graciano and 2% Mazuelo, the wine was matured for 6 years with 10 traditional rackings. Only the very best barrels were then selected, with 199 making it into the final blend. The intensity of the wine is immediately visible from the deep, rich colouring and the fresh, crisp nose which is both pure and...

TASTING NOTES

A primary, simple red and black fruit nose which seems the most immediately inviting and appealing of the line-up.Underneath lurks white chocolate and mocha notes and the darker damsons, cherries and plums. A tangy, refreshinglift on the palate and a generous, open fleshiness suggest a wine that will give pleasure in its youth. Drink from 2010.
