Tasting Notes

Undoubtedly the star of the show for me, this wine bears all the hallmarks of beautiful, intense Tuscan Cabernet. Showy and rounded with a wild, spicy and concentrated texture. There are hints of smoke and tar beneath the dense, sweet core of fruit and exotic spice. The finish is long, rich and impressive. Wonderfully youthful in its freshness ? quite simply, the 2004 Camartina seems to belie its age. At nearly a decade old, this is a stunning wine that will give pleasure for at least another ten years to come.

Reviews & Scores

The estate's 2004 Camartina is another irresistibly sexy wine. A deeply-colored ruby, it displays captivating aromatics along with notes of blackberries, blueberries, violets and graphite that emerge on its medium-bodied frame. The fine tannins make it a highly enjoyable wine even at this early stage, but my experience suggests that another few years of bottle age are needed for the wine to integrate its oak and express its full range of aromas and flavors. It is a terrific effort from Querciabella. This blend of 50% Sangiovese, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot and Syrah aged in 100% French oak (Allier, Nevers and Troncais) of which 80% was new. Score: 95 Points Antonio Galloni
