Tasting Notes
Peachy, floral and honeyed with hints of fresh grass and mint. Generous, rich and expressive yet focussed and precise. Powerful, concentrated and structured with driving acidity and a firm mineral backbone. This is a masterful balancing act and an extremely special wine.
Reviews & Scores
OK, we know £60 a pop is serious white wine pricing, but Batàr is very serious, biodynamically-produced white wine. The name is a playful homage to Bâtard-Montrachet for this blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, fermented and aged in French barriques, 30% of which are new. It has a haunting, beautiful fragrance, all the floral charm and subtle oatmeal richness, refined and agile mineral balance and such a flood of peachy fruit on the palate. Immensely fresh, but with almond, subtle honey, and terrific balancing acidity. Delicious, complex and understated, this is indeed a great white wine.
