"Paler than the 2017. Mid garnet and a suggestion of oak on the nose. The particularly ripe fruit slightly disguises the ultra-digestible, appetising nature of the carefully selected Sangiovese parcel that informs this wine. Chestnut notes and still quite a bit of tannin. Much sweeter than the 2017 with lower acidity. Still a good drink but perhaps less obviously Sangiovese....

A little less intense and concentrated that its younger brother, the 2008 showed a delicate finesse with a layered, savoury quality and a gentle balance of herbs and dark fruits. There is a warm quality that comes through from the sophisticated oak which lingers on the finish. Overall this is a lovely wine with a very attractive and elegant pedigree....

Gaja’s Costa Russi is usually the most aromatic and elegant of the three single vineyard wines with a finer structure. The 2014 retains its personality with an expansive bouquet of wild berries mingled with rose petals and an attractive balsamic note.
