TASTING NOTES
more
The Burgundy wine region has always fascinated and frustrated in equal measure. For every eulogising, life-changing proclamation from someone realising wine nirvana, there is some poor soul somewhere bashing their head in perplexity. At its best, Burgundy wine can provide the ultimate - the transcendental, mystifying, unexplainable pleasure that only truly great wine can bring. But at its worst, Burgundy wine can be an expensive mistake, bring disillusion and even provoke anger.

Montmains faces south-east and is parallel to Vaillons but at a shallower gradient. The grapes are some of the last to be harvested, giving purity and elegance, but this is a more austere wine. Lemon and lime flavours are layered over chalky textures, savoury herb notes and a marine salinity. Extremely elegant and restrained. Drink from 2020. Armit Wines
